Every drop of Ragged Branch is made right on the farm. We mash, distill, age, and bottle on property. The grains are milled daily and we mash with water from a spring-fed well adjacent to the still. All raw grains for the whiskeys are grown and managed by us. Our nearby farm, Pounding Branch, is home to 800 acres of crops and cattle that support our distillery.
Every little bit counts here at Ragged Branch and the distillery has almost zero waste. The water in the distillery is recycled for cooling tanks and the spent mash is fed to the cattle, creating our own unique flavor of beef. In the tasting room, all components of the drinks we serve are hand-crafted to create the finest and most unique-tasting cocktail we can provide.

In the Tasting Room, we offer Ragged Branch Beef—prime cuts and hamburger from our cattle, fed with the residual mash from our distillation process. At any one time, we maintain 50-100 head of cattle, worked as often as possible on horseback. We calve many of our cattle on-site and our team oversees our cattle process to ensure delivery of only the finest quality beef. Available right alongside our whiskeys in the retail area, any visitor can grab a selection of our beef to take back home. Trust us on this: a mash-fed steak or hamburger is the perfect complement to our Virginia Straight Bourbon and Rye Whiskey.
